(2/28/18) 100 SUITS FOR 100 MEN ON STEVE HARVEY’S TALK SHOW
2/28/20181 Comment

I am truly humbled to have the opportunity to speak about 100 Suits on such a great National platform! Mr. Harvey could not have been more kind to me and my sister Tanisha, who accompanied me on the trip. It was so gracious of him to donate 100 suits from his Steve Harvey Collection clothing line.

Words cannot express how humbling it is to help others and in turn have others help you bring your dream to fruition. I thank everybody that helped me from the beginning to now.

(2/17/18) 100 SUITS IN ALBANY, BLACK & PUERTO RICAN CAUCUS
2/17/20180 Comments

Picture
100 Suits hosted our very first panel at the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus in Albany today. We were truly honored to be sponsored by New York Assembly Members Diana Richardson and Charles Barron.

While criminal justice reform efforts are increasing in New York State, the discussions and decision-making processes have not included the families, who serve time with their loved ones, when incarceration is the punishment meted out. This workshop focused on the re-entry process for incarcerated men and women, highlighted impacted family mobilization, and showcased testimonials from inmates explaining how these various draconian Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) measures are burdening families.

Another successful pop-up shop! 100 Suits for 100 Men’s Women’s Division gave an empowering pop-up shop for ladies residing in shelters in Jamaica Queens. We were truly blessed to have famed “READ” campaign photographer Ms. Kimberly Butler (Butler Photography) and her assistant Miss. Katie volunteer their time to take professional photographs of this event. They also gave a hand setting up.

We’d also like to thank the people that were there for us when we called for assistance: Alisha Wrencher, a manager at Starbucks, for being so kind in letting us use the space; Mrs. Denise and Dr. Susan helped with transportation; Simone West (owner of Hair Art NYC) for her generous donation of 2 custom wigs; Mrs. Denise McLain and the ladies of DC 37 local 327 for their donations of clothing; 3 seniors from one of Jamaica Queens’ senior centers; Dejon that helped with the heavy lifting and client assistance; Charlene Magee and Monique Wiggins (the 100 Suits women’s division Dream Team); and Ms. Laura that helped set-up, God Speed!

(1/20/2018) 100 SUITS FOR 100 MEN’S WOMEN’S DIVISION POP-UP BENEFITING 3 WOMEN’S SHELTERS IN JAMAICA
1/19/20180 Comments

Picture
We’ve had so much success with the men’s pop-up that we thought we’d add more women’s pop-ups. We’ve chosen 3 shelters in Jamaica, Queens and asked that they pick 10 ladies each to bring to this invitation only pop-up.

The women’s division was able to collect a good amount of clothing for the women to choose from. Donations came from friends of a staffer’s elderly mother and supporters of 100 Suits. We were blessed with the bulk of donations coming from several members of New York City’s largest public employee union, DC 37. At a DC 37 meeting Ms. Denise McLain announced that 100 Suits’ Women’s Division was doing a pop-up shop and could use some donations of clothing. several ladies stepped up and donated. We are thanking DC 37 Members:
Tracey Fuller
La’Nette Murphy
Yvonne Williams
Susan Chin
Maria Corsco
Norma Paupaw
Ashley McLain
Patricia Goodridge
Pamela Brown
Adrainer Coleman
Lauren and Percie McLain
And we cannot forget Mrs. Denise McLain

A very special shout out goes to Ms. Simone West, Owner of the Hair Art NYC salon in Jamaica, NY for her generous donation of 2 custom wigs that will be raffled (free tickets) off to 2 women at the pop-up.

We know that this will be a great success, because we have a great circle of supporters!
